Building Regenerative landscapes

Plants and Pollinators

We use permaculture-inspired techniques to rebuild healthy soil. Our method incorporates a layering technique using cardboard, compost, and mulch that naturally decomposes, resulting in healthier soil each season.

By selecting native and drought-tolerant climate-adapted plants, our gardens create sustainable micro-ecosystems that increase biodiversity and build ecological resilience in urban habitats.

Structure and Flow

Structure and Flow

Using natural stone, we create borders and pathways that invite you to be a part of your garden. Incorporating water harvesting techniques like rain gardens, french drains, and rain barrels, rainfall is conserved and incorporated into the design.

Maintenance

We offer full-service garden maintenance, including invasive weed removal, perennial care, deadheading, and shrub and tree pruning. Big or small - we do it, and chemical-free!

Intentionally designed to support life

At Maekin Gardens, we specialize in pollinator gardens that are as beautiful as they are beneficial—thoughtfully designed as a sustainable alternative to traditional lawns. By using native and drought-tolerant plants, our landscapes dramatically reduce water use, eliminate the need for chemicals, and create vibrant, low-maintenance outdoor spaces that thrive in Colorado’s unique climate.

These gardens aren’t just pretty—they’re purposeful. As pollinators like bees and butterflies face rapid population decline due to habitat loss, our gardens help rebuild essential urban ecosystems. Each space we create becomes part of a growing patchwork of restored habitat—supporting biodiversity, improving soil health, and helping to strengthen local food systems.

In a time of increasing climate stress and ecological disruption, Maekin Gardens offers a way to reconnect with the land right outside your door. Whether you’re replacing a thirsty lawn or revitalizing a neglected space, our designs turn ordinary yards into thriving, resilient habitats—alive with color, movement, and meaning.
